Trip Overview
The Everest Gokyo Lake Trek is a highly unique journey that takes you to the shores of six breathtaking turquoise glacier lakes collectively stretching from 4,700 meters to 5,000 meters, as well as some of the best mountain views. The Gokyo Lake Trek trail ascends gradually via a lovely Sherpa town, rhododendron trees, and yak pastures. The Gokyo Lake Trekking also includes crossing icy rivers, thrilling suspension bridges, colorful prayer flags, and glacier debris. The trek will lead you to Khumjung village, the oldest hamlet in the Khumbu region, where you will have the opportunity to learn about Sherpa culture.

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival, a representative from Mountain Leaders will receive you at the Airport and transfer to the hotel. Depending upon your arrival time, we will arrange for activities for the day. In the evening, you will enjoy the welcome dinner alongside a lovely cultural performance program. You will be staying at Kathmandu.

Day 2
: Kathmandu city sightseeing (1400m)
After breakfast, our guide will pick you up from the hotel and start the day with a full-day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square which is the old palace square. Next, you will proceed to Swayambhunath temple- one of the oldest Buddhist Shrines. You will then processed to Visit Pashupatinath- the holiest Hindu temple and Boudhanath- one of the biggest and holiest stupa. After spending the early hours we’ll move towards Bhaktapur and Patan where you can explore living museums and palaces. You will be staying in Kathmandu.

Day 3
Kathmandu to Lukla (2,800m/9184ft) and Phakding (2,652m/8,698ft)
You will take a flight to Lukla. After reaching Lukla you will be introduced to your guide and porter. You will then continue through Dudhkoshi Ghat. The trails follow the bank of the Dudhkoshi River until Phakding where you can enjoy your time. You will be staying at Phakding.

Day 4
Phakding to Namche bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft)
After breakfast, you will be heading towards Namche Bazaar- the biggest Sherpa Village in Nepal. The trail goes over the Dudhkoshi River via suspension bridge and then through a beautiful pine forest to Monjo. You will approach the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park for a brief permit check and then descend to Dudh Koshi River en route to Jorsale and continue uphill to Namche Bazaar with your first glimpse of Everest in its majesty. You will be staying at Namche Bazaar.

Day 5
Namche bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft)
Early morning you will hike above Namche for an incredible view of the Himalayas and a great view of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. You will then continue to the Sherpa village of Khunde and Khumjung. After leaving Sherpa’s village we came back to Namche. You will be staying at Namche.

Day 6
Namche bazaar to Phortse (3810 m) via Mong La passes (3975 m)
Early morning you will move towards Phortse. On the way you will see the view of Mt. Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, Ama Dablam and Thamserku. You will also get a chance to spot on some of the wild lives like Pheasant, Himalayan Thar and even Musk Deer. The trails continue and take us two different ways- one that leads to Everest Base Camp and the other to Gokyo Valley. You will then move gradually to Mong La Pass and continue our walk down through the pine forests to the Dudh Koshi River and arrive at Phortse Thenga followed by suspension bridge over the river and we get to Phortse. We will be staying at Phortse.

Day 7
Trek from Phortse to Machhermo (4470 m)
After breakfast, we will trek through village of Dole which offers good views of Mt. Khumbula and Mt. Tawaoche. We will the steep from Dole to Machhermo followed by dense forest. We move above Dudh Koshi River and finally arrive at Machhermo, the last settlement of on the way to Gokyo. We will be staying at Machhermo.

Day 8
Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo (4790 m)
On this day we will headed towards high Mountains. On the way you can enjoy the view of Mt. Kantega and the sixth highest mountain in the world, Cho Oyu. We will then move down the bank of the Dudh Koshi River and then ascend right away to the Ngozumpa Glacier. We cross a bridge and pass the first lake- Longponga Tsho. We will again pass the final lake, Dudh Pokhari, which means “Milk Pond”. The beautiful Gokyo valley stands on the shores of his third lake. We will be staying at Gokyo.

Day 9
Acclimatization day at Gokyo / Ascent to Gokyo RI (5357 m)
Early morning after breakfast, we will pass through village and after 3 hrs walk we will reach Gokyo Ri which will give you view of Cho Oyu, Everest, Makalu etc. . If we are not too worn out with the ascent to Gokyo RI, we can go for an excursion to two of the remaining lakes- Thonak Sho and Ngozumpa Sho. When we climb to a hill at the edge of these two lakes, we get to a grassy ground festooned with prayer flags, known locally as “the Scoundrel’s Viewpoint (5000 m). This offers unobstructed views of Cho Oyu, north face of the Everest and the upper expanse of the Ngozumpa Glacier. Relishing the beauty and adventure of the surrounding, we trace back to Gokyo. We will be staying at Gokyo.

Day 10
Trek from Gokyo to Dole (4110 m)
On this day we trek down to Dudhkoshi and pass by the first lakes. We will then descend to a terrace and make fair ascent to a ridge arriving at Chorten. You can see the view of Thamserku, Cho Oyo. We finally arrive at Dole. You can enjoy the superb view of Mt. Khumbula and Mt. Tawoche. We will be staying at Dole.

Day 11
Trek from Dole to Namche bazaar (3440 m)
We will continue our trek along with rhododendron and colourful wild flowers, and cross Mong La Pass. We will then reach to the junction to Everest base camp and Gokyo. We embark on a curvy uphill route to Kyangjuma and then to the Namche army camp hill. Finally we reach Namche bazaar. We will be staying at Namche Bazaar.

Day 12
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2840 m)
After breakfast, leaving Namche we trek towards several village and the Hillary suspension bridge and reach Lukla in the evening. We will be staying at Lukla,

Day 13
Lukla to Kathmandu
This morning you will be transferred to Lukla Airport for your flight back to Kathmandu. On arrival in Kathmandu, you will be met and conveyed to hotel. The remainder of the day has been left free for shopping and pick up some last minute souvenirs. We will be staying at Kathmandu.

Day 14
Departure from Kathmandu
After breakfast, as per your flight schedule, our representative from Mountain leaders will transfer you to the airport from where you will fly towards your next destination.
