  Dudhkunda Trail  
 
Dudhkunda
Dudhkunda (4560m), a holy mountain lake, in the lap of Mt. Numbur is a popular trekking destination of Solu. Dudhkunda which literally means lake of milk, is said to be a sacred lake and is revered by the local people. It is believed that taking a dip in its holy waters will fulfill one's wishes. During full-moon nights in August a weeklong celebration is held here by prlgrims and jhankris (Shaman Priests).
 
     
  Itinerary  
 
DAY 01
Fly from Kathmandu to Phaplu (2469m). Local sightseeing including local monasteries (Chewang Monastery). Walk to Salleri (2390m) from Phaplu. 35 mins (flight) 4 hrs (Local sightseeing) 30 mins (Walking). Overnight Salleri (Tea-shops/ Lodges)
DAY 02
Trek from Salleri to Junbeshi (2700m). Visit monasteries and observe local culture. 5-6 hrs (Trekking). Overnight Junbeshi (Lodges/ camping)
DAY 03
Trek from Junbeshi to Thuptencholing (2920m) to Shengeepuk. Ovserve sildlife and vegetation on the way. Visit Thuptenchholing monastery, observe traditional Tibetan medicinal therapy at Thuptenchholing. Visit Phunmoche monastery and meditation cave. 7-8 hrs (Trekking). Overnight Shengeephuk (Camping)
DAY 04
Visit Shengeephuk cave and see palm imprint on stone. Trek from Shengeephuk to Basa Khola to Beni . Walk through alpine forests. Experience wilderness in beautiful landscape. Observe closer view of mountains. 8-9 hrs (Trekking) . Overnight Beni (Camping)
DAY 05
Trek from Beni to Dudhkunda (4560m). See mountain glacier, lake Dudhkunda and the mountains closely. Walk around and tour the area. Observe fair if you are there at Janai Purnima in August. See migratory aquatic birds during rainy seasons. 4-5 hrs (Trekking). Overnight Dudhkunda (Camping)
DAY 06
Trekking from Dudhkunda to Takshindu (3060m)/Ringmo. Observe sherpa culture on the way. See animal herding on the Himalayan pastures. Experience wilderness and beautiful landscape. Watch sherpa cultural show at Ringmo and on request in Taskshindu. 8-9 hrs (Trekking). Overnight Takshindu/ Ringmo (camping/ lodges/ tea-shopes)
DAY 07
View mountains early in the morning from Takshindu. Visit local monastery and places and observe sherpa culture. Overnight Takshindu/ Ringmo (camping/ lodges/ tea-hopes).
DAY 08
Trek from Takshindu to Phaplu. Walk through mixed alping forests. Experience wildlife and bird watching. See sherpa settlement, wildlife and vegetation. Watch cultural show which will be performed on requests. 6/7 hrs (trekking). Overnight Phaplu (Camping/ lodges/ tea-shops)
DAY 09
Flying from Phaplu to Kathmandu . Overnight Kathmandu (Hotel/ lodges)
 
     
 
From Takshindu, there is another option. Instead of coming to Phaplu, one can carry on to Nunthala:
 
 

DAY 07

Trek Takshindu – Nunthala. Khaling Rai settlement on the way to Thulo Dhunga. 6-7 hours (Trekking). Overnight Thulo Dhunga.

DAY 08

Trek Thulo Dhunga to Sombare. 6-7 hours (Trekking). Overnight Sombare (Home-stay)

DAY 09

Visiting Khaling Rai museum at Sombare. Overnight Sombare (Home-stay)

DAY 10

Trek Sombare to Changmiteng to Ratnange. 3-4 hours (Trekking). Overnight Ratnange.

DAY 11

Sunrise and mountain view fromRatnange in the morning. Trek to Phaplu. 2-3 hours (Trekking). Overnight Phaplu (Camping/ lodges/ tea-shops)

DAY 12

Flying from Phaplu to Kathmandu . Overnight Kathmandu (Hotel/ lodges)
