Makalu Base Camp Trek
Description
This trek takes you to Makalu Base Camp (5250 m), now designated as Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area. Mt. Makalu (8463 m) is the fifth highest peak in the world. The Makalu base camp trek is a true adventure with scenery so beautiful that it will never tire you. The trek starts with a flight to Tumlingtar and heads up the Arun river valley to Sedua and Num, then crossing Shipton La Pass (4210 m) into the upper Barun river valley for a close look at Makalu and Chamlang Himal. This trek visits one of the most remote and less visited areas of Nepal. The Barun valley is part of a huge international protected area under the agreement between the governments of Nepal and China, which comprises of 2330 square kilometer of National Park and 830 square kilometer of conservation area in Nepal alone.
Grade
The Makalu base camp trek is a trek which requires good physical health and a body that is able to walk longer distances. Because we will cross quite tough points, it is recommended that you are trained and in good condition when starting this trek. We will take time to adapt to higher altitudes on a regular basis, to prevent you from facing any difficulties during this travel. This trek is graded as a strenuous trek.

Makalu Base Camp Trek - 20 days
Day 1: Flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar (860 m). Then trek to Khadbari (1040 m). This walk will take 4 to 5 hours. Overnight stay in Khadbari.
Day 2: Trek from Khadbari (1040 m) to Chichila (1830 m). This walk will take 5 to 6 hours. Overnight stay in Chichila.
Day 3: Trek from Chichila (1830 m) to Num (1490 m). This walk will take 5 to 6 hours. Overnight stay in Num.
Day 4: Trek from Num (1490 m) to Sedua (1460 m). This walk will take 5 to 6 hours. Overnight stay in Sedua.
Day 5: Trek from Sedua (1460 m) to Tashi Gaon (2070 m). This walk will take 5 to 6 hours. Overnight stay in Tashi Gaon.
Day 6: Trek from Tashi Gaon (2070 m) to Kauma (3470 m). This walk will take 6 to 7 hours. Overnight stay in Kauma.
Day 7: Day of rest in Kauma. Overnight stay in Kauma.
Day 8: Trek from Kauma (3470 m) to Mumbuk (3570 m). This walk will take 5 to 6 hours. Overnight stay in Mumbuk.
Day 9: Trek from Mumbuk (3570 m) to Nhe Kharka (3000 m). This walk will take 6 to 7 hours. Overnight stay in Nhe Kharka.
Day 10: Trek from Nhe Kharka (3000 m) to Sherson (4615 m). This walk will take 7 to 8 hours. Overnight stay in Sherson.
Day 11: Trek from Sherson (4615 m) to Makalu Base Camp (5000 m). This walk will take 4 to 5 hours. Overnight stay in Makalu Base Camp.
Day 12: Day of rest and exploration in Makalu Base Camp. Overnight stay in Makalu Base Camp.
Day 13: Trek from Makalu Base Camp (5000 m) to Nhe Kharka (3000 m). This walk will take 7 to 8 hours. Overnight stay in Nhe Kharka.
Day 14: Trek from Nhe Kharka (3000 m) to Mumbuk (3570 m). This walk will take 6 to 7 hours. Overnight stay in Mumbuk.
Day 15: Trek from Mumbuk (3570 m) to Kauma (3470 m). This walk will take 5 to 6 hours. Overnight stay in Kauma.
Day 16: Trek from Kauma (3470 m) to Tashi Gaon (2070 m). This walk will take 5 to 6 hours. Overnight stay in Tashi Gaon.
Day 17: Trek from Tashi Gaon (2070 m) to Pukuwa (1520 m). This walk will 5 to 6 hours. Overnight stay in Pukuwa.
Day 18: Trek from Pukuwa (1520 m) to Bumling (1160 m). This walk will 5 to 6 hours. Overnight stay in Bumling.
Day 19: Trek from Bumling (1160 m) to Tumlingtar (860 m). This walk will take 4 to 5 hours. Overnight stay in Tumlingtar.
Day 20: Flight from Tumlingtar back to Kathmandu.
