Island Peak Climb

Description

Island peak is one of the most popular trekking peaks in Nepal. The name island peak comes from the peak's resemblance to an island in a sea of ice,  when seen from above Dingboche. As well as providing an enjoyable climb, the peak also provides some of the most striking scenery in the Khumbu region. The summit is interesting and attractive with a highly glaciated west face rising from the Lhotse glacier. The ridge rising to the south from this point leads to the summit of Island Peak. From the Island Peak Base Camp, we will ascend on a steep, grassy slope and small rocky steps to the Island Peak High Camp. It is necessary to climb a steep, snowy and icy ramp to the summit ridge: fixed ropes will be used where necessary, increasing our chances of safely reaching the summit.
