The Dolpo circuit trek is the most popular trek of the Dolpo region, mainly because of the Shey Phoksundo Lake. This lake cuts the deepest gorge and because of extreme geographical factors: no living beings, not even fish, can survive in the lake. Dolpo area lies to the west of the Kali Gandaki Valley and is located inside the Shey-Phoksundo National Park in mid-western Nepal; behind the Dhaulagiri massif, towards the Tibetan plateau.

Open to visitors only since 1989, this area is perfect for the seekers of adventure, authenticity and true wilderness. The two main highlights of a Dolpo trekking are the turquiose Phoksundo lake and the 11th century Shey monastery. The trek is strenuous, with a couple of high passes, but the rewards are great. The region is famous for the endangered snow leopards. Other animals in the region include blue sheep, mountain goats, jackals and wolves.

Grade The Dolpo circuit trek can be kept in moderate category. To adjust ourselves to the high altitudes, we will take rest and acclimatize from time to time, to prevent you from facing any difficulties. Anyone with a reasonable level of physical fitness can walk this trek. Nevertheless, it is recommended to train your walking skills before you start this trek: this will help you in walking several hours a day. We will walk up to maximum 7 hours a day (this time is including having lunch on the way), after that you will have free time. It is important to take rest in this time, to adapt to the increasing altitude.
