  Helambu Trek Description
Helambu lies north of Kathmandu and offers the nearest experience of Sherpa culture without having to go in to the Everest region. This area, because of its low elevation and the Sherpa villages on the way, provides an interesting 6 day loop. Starting with a short drive from Kathmandu the trail to Helambu climbs on to the Shivapuri ridge from where sweeping views of the central Himalayas can be seen. Following a ridge line, the trek heads north to Thare Pati before turning east to Melamchi Gaon and Tarke Gyang, the principle villages of this area. From here we visit Sarmathang before descending to the Melamchi River to end our trek with a drive from Melamchi Bazar back to Kathmandu.
Grade
The Helambu trek can be kept in easy category. The length of the trek is not long and the altitudes during the trek are not too high. Therefore, this trek should be easily accessible for anyone with good health.
