Nagarkot Hike

 

 

Description

 

On the north-eastern rim of the Kathmandu valley, at an elevation of 2175 m, Nagarkot is a widely enjoyed hill resort. It has been a popular spot that mountain viewers enjoy for a weekend in quietness and comfort. Nagarkot is popular for mountain vistas, especially at sunrise and sunset. The sunrise viewed from this hill will present you the ever-refreshing memory of the majestic panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges from Dhaulagiri in the west to Mt. Everest in the east. On the way to Nagarkot, you can observe the historic and cultural town Sankhu. Nagarkot, being the most scenic spot close to the valley of Kathmandu, has even managed to force its way into the travel section of Time magazine. Hiking to Nagarkot offers a  great break from the busy life in Kathmandu and gives quick satisfaction in experiencing the calmness of nature and watching beautiful mountain scenery.

 

 

Nagarkot Hike - 2 days

 

 

Day 1: In morning we drive from Kathmandu to Sankhu by car. Then hike from Sankhu to Nagarkot (2175 m). This walk will take 4 to 5 hours. We will have lunch on the way. Overnight stay in Nagarkot.

Day 2: Early morning we can enjoy a beautiful sunrise view over the great Himalayan ranges, including Mt. Everest (8848 m). While hiking back, we will visit the famous and historical Hindu temple Changu Narayan. Around this temple there is a beautfil little village; a wonderful place to spend some time watching the buildings and having a drink. After this visit, we will drive back to the hotel in Kathmandu.
