View on Mt. Fishtail, during the trek to the Annapurna base camp
Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Description
The Annapurna base camp trek leads to the Annapurna base camp from where climbers ascend on their way to Mt. Annapurna. Also the Machhapuchhre base camp can be reached, from where climbers ascend on their way to Mt. Machhepuchhre. The peak of this mountain is shaped like a fishtail, which you can see when you have a good view on this peak. That is why Mt. Machhepuchhre is also called Mt. Fishtail. This region is the most popular trekking area in Nepal. The rare combination of long arrays of snow-capped peaks, crystal clear lakes, turbulent rivers with deep gorges and village life can only be experienced during trekking in this area. This area also provides interesting experiences like learning about Gurung culture and taking a bath in a natural hotspring. The trek towards the base camp can be completed within 8 days or can be prolonged, depending on your preferences and walking speed. The route of the trek can be adjusted if you wish, although we provide you a few itineraries on this page: to inspire you with some of the possible tracks.
