During Annapurna circuit trek
Annapurna Circuit Trek
Description
The Annapurna circuit trek is one of the world's most classic and diverse trekking routes. It is an intense trek around the mighty Annapurna range, a journey that is seen as one of the top ten treks in the world. This long trek through the Annapurna massif offers a unique view into the physical and cultural diversity of Nepal. We will cross impressive mountain scenery as well as many different villages, each with their own culture and traditions. The nature surrounding us will constantly change: from farmland to dense forests, from rocky mountains to waterfalls. The places which we cross and where we stay will also give an interesting variety of ethnic groups and their ways of living and dressing. During the trek, we will have lunch in the villages along the road and stay overnight in the lodges and guesthouses that the villagers provide in this area. The original Annapurna circuit trek leads you from Pokhara to Beshishar, all the way round counter clockwise through Annapurna region, to Jomsom and finally down to Nayapul, ending back in Pokhara. During this trek we will pass the Thorung La pass, which is a tough climb to 5416 m altitude: the highest point we will reach during this trek. From this point one can experience beautiful views, which make it more than worth to master this pass. After reaching Jomsom, more road construction will be found on the way. The trail can start giving more dusty walks after Muktinath, because these days the amount of people who like to visit the sacred Muktinath by vehicle increases. Even though, it has to be underlined that the surrounding as well as the villages in this area are absolutely outstanding and reason enough to make this Annapurna trek at least once in your life. It is possible to make the choice to return to Pokhara by flight or drive from Jomsom or take another trail to return, if you prefer. Don't forget that when proceeding the original trek, you will cross the worlds deepest river gorge and experience other enjoyable highlights like the natural hotsprings at Tatopani and a magnificent view on the mountain range from Poonhill. Next to the original trekking route, a second possibility is to make an extra side trip to Tilicho Lake. You will be able to enjoy this beautiful lake in the middle of the mountains. Both are simply wonderful ways to experience the rich diversity in people and nature of Nepal!
Grade
The Annapurna circuit trek is a trek which requires good physical health and a body that is able to walk longer distances. Because we will cross quite tough points, like the Thorung La pass, it is recommended that you are trained and in good condition when starting this trek. Also long walks (up to 10 hours a day) will be part of the trek, although most days we walk distances and paths that people with a normal level of fitness could walk without any problems. When you would like to visit Tilicho Lake: note that the trail to the lake is a slightly more difficult part to walk. We will take time to adapt to higher altitudes on a regular basis, to prevent you from facing any difficulties during this travel. The Annapurna circuit trek is graded as a moderate to strenuous trek.
